Institute for Social Progress Signs Amicus Brief for Supreme Court Hearing on the Fair Housing Act
Posted On February 8, 2016
The Institute for Social Progress, in coordination with the prestigious Haas Institute for a Fair and Inclusive Society (U.C. Berkeley), was invited as an amicus signatory to Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs v. The Inclusive Communities Project, Inc.
The Supreme Court’s subsequent June 2015 ruling in favor of The Inclusive Communities Project markeda major victory in sustaining fair housing policies in the U.S. The opinion of the Court, delivered by Justice Kennedy, directly cited the Haas-led amicus brief in illustrating the role of public policy in fostering and maintaining segregated residential patterns.
